    How to link first image to the post permalink

    I would like to link the first image I upload to the post. This is because I would like the user to be able to click on the image to continue reading, rather than just using the read more button.

    Is there anyone who could help me out?

    Many thanks!
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn Walker ,

    After you upload the image and insert it in the post ,
    select the image in the editor click on the link button.
    In the pop up which appears use the url as the post permalink.

    I'm using a lightbox (Lightbox Plus) for my images on sprks.com so if I link my 1st image to the post, it will take you there, but when you are on the post the 1st image will open a lightbox modal of the post instead of the image.
    How do I keep the lightbox functional on the actual posts but have the front page images link to their posts?
    Also, what does the featured image facility actually do on Blogum?
    I'm liking the Blogum theme very much, so I would love to fix this!

    Okay, I will look elsewhere.
    Meantime, anyone else found a solution? The image needs to be linked to the image file to trigger the lightbox overlay, but on the front page excerpts, you want to link to the post instead. I tried the 'Featured Image' option using a separate photo without result.

    What does the Featured Image actually do on Blogum?

    Thinking about this:
    Forget Lightbox for a minute - I might want to link post images to bigger images, videos, external sites, all sorts of stuff. But I want my front page image to link to the post. This is normal & usually I would use the featured image thing and/or excerpt to select a front page image, independently of the images on the actual post.
    How do we do this with Blogum?
    I've tried using the featured image, with no lightbox, and nothing happens.

    PS I still get a frisson looking at this theme on my site. Unusual.

    index.php calls <?php get_template_part('loop'); ?>
    and loop.php pulls in the post content like this:
    <div class="post_content">
    <?php the_content(false); ?>
    <a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>#more" class="more">Read More</a>
    </div>
    Which means it grabs the content of your post up to the 'more' tag. The featured image & excerpt appear to be redundant.
    If I want featured images to work on the front page of sprks.com so that they link to the post - do I use the_post_thumbnail('medium'); ?
    And would I then need to use the_excerpt instead of the_content?
    Would like to hear any suggestions!
